A journey through time
The Dordogne region, one of the most visited regions in France
The history of the Périgord region began 500,000 years ago with the arrival ofCro Magnon man in the Dordogne. Nearly half of the decorated caves in France are located in the region, which is known as the land of Man. The most famous of them is of course the cave of Lascaux, which makes the Dordogne region one of the most visited in France. The department also has a heritage of historical monuments, which places it just behind Paris. Visiting the Périgord is above all a journey through time!
